Roles & Permissions
Getting the right people in the right seats.
We know that not everyone needs the keys to the castle. In Ripple, we keep permissions simple to help you balance collaboration with control. This guide breaks down the different access levels across your organisation so you can manage your team without the headache.
Workspace Roles
These roles define what a user can do at a high level across your entire Ripple workspace. You can assign and manage these within the Team section of your Organization Settings.
-
Admin: These are the gatekeepers. An Admin is a user with elevated permissions to manage the entire organisation.
- What they can do: They handle the heavy lifting, from adding and removing members to controlling billing and global security settings.
-
Member: These are your standard day-to-day teammates.
- What they can do: A Member can create and edit content, join channels, and fully collaborate on projects.
Content Roles
Sometimes you need to lock things down a bit more locally. When you share a specific Note or Jam, you can assign specific permission levels to control who can edit and who can just watch.
- Owner: Has full control over settings and management of the file.
- Editor: Can contribute content and make changes.
- Viewer: Can read or watch, but cannot edit.
Teams
To keep your people directory from turning into a mess, you can group your users by department or role—like ‘Marketing’ or ‘Dev’.
- How to use it: You can create and manage these groups under the Teams tab in your Organisation Settings.
Changing User Access
Need to promote a Member to an Admin, or remove someone who has moved on?
- Head to Settings → Organisation → Users.
- From here, you can invite new members or update existing roles depending on what they need to do.
