Calls

The Smart Meeting

We know that sometimes you just need to talk face-to-face. But in Ripple, a call isn’t just a video chat; it’s a data capture engine.

Ripple Calls are designed to be high-value “decision sessions” rather than just status updates. By the time you hang up, Ripple has already recorded the audio, transcribed the conversation, summarized the key points, and extracted the action items for you.

Inside Calls:

FeaturePurpose
Smart ScheduleA scheduling engine that checks participant calendars and time zones to find the perfect slot - eliminating the “when are you free?” email tag.
Instant CallA one-click launcher for ad-hoc syncs when you need to solve a problem now.
AI TranscriptionReal-time speech-to-text that creates a searchable record of everything said, so you don’t have to scribble notes.
AI MinutesAn intelligent summary generated immediately after the call, highlighting key decisions and sentiment.
Task ExtractionThe AI automatically identifies promises made (e.g., “I’ll send that by Friday”) and converts them into suggested Tasks on your board.
Linked ContextConnects the call back to the specific Jam or Channel it originated from, keeping the history intact.
Recording LibraryStores the video recording, transcript and summary in the associated Jam, allowing absent team members to catch up later.

Using Calls:

Creating a Call

There are three specific ways to launch a meeting in Ripple, depending on your workflow context.

A) The Quick Launch (Sidebar)

Best for: Ad-hoc syncs or setting up a meeting from anywhere in the app.

  1. Hover over the Ripple logo at the top of the left sidebar.

  2. Select New Call from the pop-up menu.

  3. Choose between Instant Call (start now) or Smart Schedule (find a time).

B) The Hub Method (Collab Section)

Best for: Managing your calendar and viewing scheduled sessions.

  1. Navigate to the Collab section in the left sidebar.

  2. Click on the Calls subheading/tab within the main view.

  3. Click the + New Call button.

C) The Resolution Method (via the Jam Summary)

Best for: Escalating a discussion when async isn’t enough.

  1. Go to the Summary section of an active Jam.

  2. Ripple provides a prompt to “Schedule a Call”, along with a generated proposed agenda, based on the activity within the Jam.

  3. Clicking this links the new call directly to the Jam, carrying over all the context and unresolved topics.

During the Call

Once you’ve launched the call, the interface will look familiar to other video tools, but the engine running underneath is different. Because Ripple is capturing everything, your role shifts from “note-taker” to “active participant.”

How to manage the session:

  1. You’ll find your standard controls (Mute, Camera, Share Screen) in the bottom bar.

  2. Talk naturally. You don’t need to slow down for the AI. It distinguishes between different speakers automatically.

  3. You can toggle between “Gallery View” (seeing everyone) or “Speaker View” (focus on who is talking) using the layout controls in the top corner.

After the Call

The moment you hit the red “End Call” button, Ripple starts processing. Instead of sending a summary email to yourself, you just need to review what the AI has prepared.

  1. Wait for the Ping:

You can close the tab and get back to work. Ripple will send an automatic email notification to the organiser the moment the recording and transcript are ready for review.

  1. Locate the Summary:
  • If the call was part of a Jam, the call & its associated video, summary, and call transcript appears in that Jam’s timeline as a new Topic.

  • If it was a standalone, go to the Calls tab under Collab (or the Summaries subsection of your Collab panel) to find the entry. Hover over the entry to select the ellipsis button to the right, under which you will find the option to review the system-generated Jam for this call, via ‘View Jam’

  1. Review the Recap:

Read through the summary, which highlights what was discussed, key decisions made, and the general sentiment of the group. You can also review the Call Transcript, which acts as meeting minutes, via a timestamped transcript of the call.

  2. Approve Tasks:

    • Look for the Suggested Tasks section. Ripple will have extracted promises like “I’ll email the client” or “We need to fix that bug.”

    • Click to edit (if the AI missed something or further context is needed), assign an owner, and confirm to push them directly to your Jam.

  3. Share (Optional):

If stakeholders missed the meeting, simply copy the link to the Jam containing the summary. They can read the recap or watch the recording.

[!TIP] Tool Tip: 💡 Stop being the “secretary” of the meeting. Let AI Minutes capture the decisions so you can stay fully present in the conversation.

Quick Start:

Ready to stop taking minutes? Tick these off to master your live sessions:

  • Use Instant Call for a quick sync or Smart Schedule to find a time that fits everyone’s calendar.

  • Let the AI handle the note-taking while you focus on the chat.

  • End the call and move on - Ripple will email you the moment your Summary and recording are ready.

  • Check the Call Summary (inside the Jam or Collab tab) to see key decisions and sentiment at a glance.

  • Review and confirm the Suggested Tasks to instantly turn your conversation into assigned actions on the board.
